Acts 2:17 -” In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophecy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.”

The context of this scripture is that in the last days these occurrences will be increased by the Holy Spirit. These manifestations will be supernatural from God and delivered by the Holy Spirit. Everything supernatural from God is a glimpse into His heart revealing something significant to us. As much as I try to not get old and refuse to admit my aging, in the last ten years the increase of dreams with supernatural implications has become one of the main ways that the Lord has shown me things that are to come. And though I must admit that I do not always initially understand every detail of a dream, I can usually get the main point, then later as I see it unfold some of the meaning of the details are revealed. In Acts 2:17 the phrase – “old men will dream dreams” – is making the point, that these are not insignificant dreams from eating pizza before you went to bed, but that these are Dreams given by God. I say all of that because last night I believe that God gave me one of those dreams. When I awoke, I was very disturbed and shaken.

In the dream my wife and I were physically doing things to build the church. We had hammers and other tools in our hands working around the church. Now if you know me you know that the last thing that I have any talent for is construction work (stay in your lane). So, the implication is that we are busy building people’s lives and the church (which is what I have given my life to). We are in a worship service at church and in walk three gangster looking men. My wife walks to the pulpit to welcome the people and make announcements (as she does) and she is speechless. She cannot even speak though she is trying. If you know Sue, you know that she is very intelligent and well spoken. So, I go to the pulpit and I am speechless. And if you know me, you know that I’m hardly ever without a word or an opinion. So, we dismiss the service. In the next scene in the dream, Sue and I have a large cargo van with the contents of the church in it. We park at a hotel and the three gangster looking guys approach us at the van. We’re a little shaken by this so we hurry into our room. Upon waking up the next morning we go out to the van to find it empty. I’m very disturbed by this so I wake up.

After waking I go to my office to talk to Jesus about the dream. This is what I believe the Lord told me. The three gangster looking guys represent – FEAR, the GOVERNMENT, and the MEDIA. That the church has allowed itself to be controlled by these three enemy forces that have caused us to pack up and lose the contents of who we are. The church is a community of believers that unite, support and strengthen one another. The adage ” United we stand, divided (separated) we fall,” is true and we are playing right into the enemy’s hand. The enemy has stolen from us the purpose of coming together to worship and experience the presence of God. These are the contents of the church that we have packed up, though in really nice high-tech packages and have tried to convey through live streaming and YouTube. Live streaming does not unite us, it divides us. It keeps us apart. And what most pastors are saying is that their watch population is 50% less than their normal attendance. Fear is expecting the worst (from the devil). Faith is expecting the best (from God). The will of God doesn’t usually follow human logic.

What you lose by fear, you do not regain.

I love our President and our country. I am a tax-paying law-abiding citizen. But President Trump is not my Lord and the government is violating the constitution (the supreme law of the land) of our nation, by restricting the assembling of churches. The media thrive off dramatizing everything for a story because it gets ratings. When has the media ever told the truth? For some reason now we believe everything that they are saying. The media and the government can be moved by fear, but we are the church. I have asked many people if they know anyone with coronavirus. Pastor Rodney Howard Browne has asked dozens of pastors if they know anyone with the coronavirus. No one that either of us has asked knows anyone with the virus. Our questions have literally included thousands of people. Pastor Rodney’s contacts probably include tens of thousands of people.

Fear is expecting the worst.

This is our time to shine. Isaiah 60:1 – “Arise shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you.” During this time of unprecedented crisis, the church is called to be a shelter in the storm, the light that outshines the darkness. The church is supposed to be the place that the world sees and realizes that they need. It will not happen through YouTube. Yesterday I was reading a word that Shawn Bolz gave after having an encounter with God. He said that the Lord told him – “That the enemy will flee when and if the church rises up. But the church cannot sit back and be passive.” It’s our time to shine!! Pastors be pastors and shepherd your sheep!

The church is supposed to be the place that the world sees and realizes that they need.

In Revelation chapter 3 Jesus addresses the church at Laodicea. They had grown complacent and comfortable. Jesus tells them that they make Him sick. Because of His love, He encourages them to – “Repent and become Zealous.” Jesus goes on in verse 20 – “I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come into him.” Jesus isn’t knocking as a guest but as the master of the house. But I’m sorry to say that today when He’s knocking no one, is there, they might be home watching YouTube. This is our time to shine. Let’s not allow the enemy to steal from us the contents of who we are – The Church – that has been bought by the Blood and Sacrifice of Jesus!

This is our time to shine.

My prayer for you today is that you will rise and shine, stay in faith, project hope and faith to those around you. Pastors rise in the anointing and calling of God and shepherd your sheep.
